I am a supporter of Medical Marijuana. I've worked as an LPN (licensed practical nurse) for 12 yrs. In that time I have seen people in extreme pain, nausea, spastic conditions. Tests have proven that Marijuana is effective for these and many other conditions. The drug companies of course oppose. Its time that the drug and oil companies stopped their grip on America. Common drugs for pain, nausea, spasticity all have various side effects, while Marijuana has very little. I have seen patient after patient suffer from their disease and the sometimes catastrophic side effects of their medications. Shouldn't the comman man have say of what drugs, proven drugs, are entering his body? Marijuana is a class 1 drug, the same as Cocaine and Heroin. Cocaine was a widely used drug in denistry and also in many elixers including Coca Cola until it was outlawed in the early 20th century. The invention of Novacaine replaced the use of Cocaine in the Medical world as the damaging effects of Cocaine were now known. Heroin is produced from Morphine, a powerful painkiller, from the Opium poppy. So even though these hard drugs are class 1, they do in their more pure forms indeed have medical value, but both Heroin and Cocaine carry heavy addiction as one of the cruel side effects. People addicted to Cocaine and Heroin let their personal and professional lives wither away because their addictions and high price of the drug control their lives. Marijuana isn't addictive and doesn't have any of these horrible side affects. It plainly doesn't belong in the same class as these two hard drugs. Recently the AMA (American Medical Association) agreed to review Marijuana as a class 1 drug and do research on its medical benefits. Washington state has an approved Medical Marijuana law, but it is still a federal crime to possess or grow it. Join me in support of Medical Marijuana, NORML, and THCF (The Hemp and Cannabis Foundation).
